About

Abrasive Water Jet Cutting

As pioneers of waterjet cutting in Queensland, Queensland Gaskets delivers precision and efficiency across projects. Our waterjet machines use advanced high-pressure abrasive waterjet technology to provide accuracy and flexibility for many materials and applications.

Water jet cutting is a specialised cutting method that uses a focused stream of high-pressure water with or without abrasive media to cut materials to exact tolerances. The cutting head and control system on our waterjet machines ensure consistent performance and repeatable results across jobs both small and large.

Water jet cutting requires specialised equipment capable of meeting strict tolerances as defined by the material and design requirements. Compared with traditional cutting methods such as flame or plasma cutting, waterjet cutting offers cleaner edges without heat-affected zones, increasing quality and reducing finish work.

Our control systems are programmed to deliver precise motion control, while the cutting head maintains optimal abrasive mixing and jet stability.

Custom Precision Water Jet Cutting Applications

Water Jet Cutter 1

Water-Only Jet Cutting

Water-only jet cutting is perfect for softer materials like insulation foam, sponges, cork, rubber, compressed non-asbestos fibre (CNAF), EMI/RFI shielding and felt. Our waterjet systems are capable of guided cutting to a standard tolerance on water jet cut parts of +/- 0.2 mm.

Water Jet Cutter 2

Garnet Water Jet Cutting

Our garnet waterjet cutter is designed for harder, more difficult materials such as laminated shims, stone, metals, engineering plastics, and Armour Plate. For metals we can cut 2850mm x 1450mm x 110mm and 80mm deep.

Specialised Water Jet Cutting Applications

Water jet cutting systems in our facility support a wide range of applications due to their inherent ability to cut intricate shapes, heavy sections and multiple materials with speed and accuracy. Unlike heat-based methods like laser or flame cutting, this cutting method eliminates heat-affected zones, delivering smooth, clean edges.

The cutting head assembly, paired with contemporary control systems, allows for multi-axis motion and finer control over cut profiles than many traditional cutting methods.
