Earlier this year, we were contacted by Luke Vos, an Australian doctor volunteering at Kuluva Hospital in Uganda. Located in the country’s northwest, this 220-bed non-profit hospital plays a vital role in the local community—providing care not only to patients but also powering essential services like the Kuluva School of Nursing and Midwifery and several surrounding schools through a small hydropower system.
Following a major refurbishment in late 2024, the hospital’s hydropower plant experienced a gasket failure that caused significant leaks, threatening its ability to supply consistent electricity. Without urgent repairs, critical health and education services faced potential disruption.
Luke reached out to us for support in sourcing replacement gaskets to get the system operational again. His request landed with our Sales team member John Camplin, who immediately took action. Working closely with our production team, John coordinated the rapid manufacture of custom gaskets tailored to the plant’s needs. These were supplied free of charge and handed over to Luke before his return to Uganda.
“The team did a great job turning it around quickly,” said John. “It’s not every day your work contributes to keeping a hospital running on the other side of the world. It’s rewarding to be a part of something so meaningful.”
The gaskets will soon be installed in Kuluva, helping to restore reliable power to the hospital and its surrounding community.
This collaboration is a reminder that the work we do each day can create positive ripples far beyond our own operations. We are proud to support projects like this, which reflect our values of quality, compassion, and purposeful action.
